The beasts of Beef City are Play-Doh looking bears that are as adorable as they are colorful, and the idea of them just beating each other and knocking each other out is hilarious. The art style itself also adds to the comedy.
Also the pointless but hilarious flopping on the ground you can do by holding the circle button is one of the best things about Gang Beasts. And it’s all in the details - from the costumes you can wear to the way characters move to the “ready up” indicator being that your character raises both hands over their head. Gang Beasts is one of the funniest games I’ve ever played. Its an arena fighting game at its core, but with the way the purposefully-wonky controls and the hilarious art style are implemented, Gang Beasts morphs into something more than just an arena fighter - it’s a party game perfect for friends and family that aren’t gamers that want to laugh and have a good time. I have obviously left out other details about the game, I urge you to go and discover the rest for yourselves :).DoubleFine Productions are known for developing and publishing wacky stories, but with Gang Beasts, they decided to skip the story and went right straight for wacky gameplay instead. It was clear to me and my friends that a lot of heart and soul went into the creation of this game. Be warned: when looking for people to play-with through Duck Game's discord channels, seasoned players WILL destroy you - play with friends or sharpen your skills before attempting this. There is also a decent amount of humour scattered throughout DG: whether it's the array of bizarre weapons, the ability to go limp, the ability to pick other diseased ducks up and throw them, the parody duck news-anchor/commentator and so on. There are so many little details that compound to make this a great game, for example, in the multiplayer lobby, you can customise your duck's "room" with decorations you unlock through playing (or modding) i remember seeing indiana jones-esque temples, batman-esque caves etc. If you miss the difficulty of oldschool games that had "Arcade Modes", this game also offers ridiculously challenging (but fun) arcade challenges playing these modes introduces you to new mechanics and refines your skills (not to mention the satisfying trophies/achievements/skins).
A good way to introduce friends might be to use Steam Remote Play, which just requires one of you to own the game (providing you all have an internet connection). RNG can lead to hilarious (and sometimes unfair) moments - though, the unfair moments are minimal, and happen to everyone, so it balances out that's just DG buddy!.
Non-weapon items scattered around can still be useful in the field too, so being unarmed isn't necessarily a death sentence. Most weapons have pros and cons so nothing feels too OP (in the base game at least). Yes, the combat is fast-paced and easy to pick up but also the player will find that the mechanics are surprisingly layered, smooth and well thought-out. "Platforming duck shooter" really doesn't do it justice. ConfidentTsovinar's Experience Honestly, it's hard to sell this game to friends.
